This is an exciting time to be in Laredo, Texas. Our city is growing, our people are friendly, our streets are safe, and our future is bright.

Laredo is transforming itself from a sleepy little border town into a world-class, sophisticated business center. A leader in transportation, international trade, banking, and higher education, Laredo is stepping onto the world stage.

IYCC is dedicated to Laredo's future. That future will depend in part on the technology needed to compete in a global economy. For too long, the technology Laredo needs has been held hostage by proprietors who want to make technology inaccessible and expensive. Those days are now over.

IYCC is bringing Open Source technology to Laredo. Open Source technology is shared among its users, so that everyone participates in and benefits from innovation. That translates into lower costs, better performance, and higher reliability.

Chief among the Open Source innovations is the Linux operating system, which is quickly becoming the operating system of choice world wide.

Here are a few of the services IYCC provides to Laredo businesses:
    IYCC Domains:
  • Domain Registration: Have your own website address on the Internet!
  • Web hosting: Put your website on our servers. We take care of your website while you tend to business!
  • Website configuration: Get your site up and running. You supply the content and make changes whenever you want!

  • Computer and network consulting: Implement Open Source technology to do more with less money!

Training: Learn how to use Open Source software!
We can show you how to save money now. Don't spend one more cent on software until you have seen how Open Source technology is transforming computing.

Latest update on the release of the Laredo Cuadrado

It has been 10 months since we started and now we are finally ready to take orders at IYCC.net. And we have several exciting announcements.

First, we are selling the Laredo Cuadrado Complete System at a special introductory price of $648.99. Basically, we are adding to the Laredo Cuadrado the 19" LCD widescreen monitor, wireless Comfort Curve keyboard, and wireless optical mouse at about our cost. By combining the components, we can ensure that the Laredo Cuadrado will "Just Work" when you turn it on the first time.

Second, for a limited time, we are offering FREE SHIPPING via UPS ground. Why? The information for shipping estimates is still not completely loaded into the website, so instead of waiting we will pay the shipping. We expect to turn on the shipping estimator within a week or so, but in the meantime, we will pay the shipping for the Laredo Cuadrado. (This gives you the incentive to buy quickly, and us the incentive to finish loading the information!)

Third, the Laredo Cuadrado comes with a 30-day complete satisfaction guarantee. If you decide for any reason that you are unsatisfied with your purchase of the Laredo Cuadrado, simply return it to us in the original packaging for a full refund.

Fourth, the Laredo Cuadrado hardware is backed by our three year parts and labor warranty. We will replace at our shop any hardware component that fails within three years from the date of purchase, absolutely free. We'll even pay for regular ground shipping to return it to our shop.

If you have any problems with ordering, fulfillment, delivery, or setup of your Laredo Cuarado, please call me personally at (956) 857-1172 (my cell number).

Happy Trails,

NOTES: Both the 30-day satisfaction guarantee and the 3 year warranty are voided if the system is loaded with any operating system kernel that is not Linux 2.6.22 or better or if the BIOS is reflashed. Loading any version of Windows on our systems voids the guarantee and the warranty.

IYCC Announces the Release of the Laredo Cuadrado

IYCC.net has released its first product, the Laredo Cuadrado on January 24, 2008.
We're proud of the Laredo Cuadrado. In the spirit of Los Dos Laredos, we have integrated both sides of computing technology: hardware from the best names in the business, and software built on the most advanced operating system on the planet.

The Laredo Cuadrado (tm) Complete System is priced at $648.99 and comes with the Laredo Cuadrado cube computer, an Acer 19" widescreen LCD monitor, and the Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop 4000 with Comfort Curve keyboard and optical mouse.

The Laredo Cuadrado is based on the ASUS M2A-VG motherboard, which is powered by AMD's RS690 platform. The RS690 combines the ATI SB600 chipset with Radeon X1200 series graphics. For more technical specifications of the Laredo Cuadrado, see its Technical Specifications page.

We have created the Laredo Cuadrado Complete System so that the essential peripherals of your system will be already completely configured and "Just Work" when you turn on your system for the first time. Basically, we priced the Laredo Cuadrado at $399 and then added the monitor, keyboard, and mouse at our cost to arrive at the final price of the system.

Take a look and give us a try.

IYCC is moving to a new home!

IYCC is proud to announce that we have signed a lease on a new headquarters building. Located at 6318 Krone Lane here in Laredo, the new building will provide a better facility for the roll-out of our product line.

The build-out of the new space has taken longer than expected but is nearing completion. We are now awaiting the final inspections from the City of Laredo to receive the Certificate of Occupancy, which is expected by Friday, October 19. We'll need a couple of weeks to get the furniture and fixtures installed and everything ready for opening, so November 1 is our target public opening date.

I've asked St. Joseph to have a talk with the Carpenter and ask that everything goes smoothly from here on out. I'm guessing that construction projects got delayed in Nazareth, too. :-)

Happy Trails,

Meet the Vatican's Webmaster - Sister Judith Zoebelein

This podcast is an interview of Sister Judith Zoebelein, the editorial director of the Vatican's website. The first 20 minutes she discusses how the Internet builds community that must be incorporated into the Church. Then she speaks briefly on the tools technology that the Vatican uses. As you might expect, the Vatican runs everything on Unix and Linux.
